Design meets Production – Modern Design-to-Production Process

Walter Graf, Senior Project Manager Marketing at Reishauer, will be speaking at Eurotrans Gear Training 2026 in Zurich, giving a technical talk as part of the Eurotrans Gear Training: “Design meets Production – Modern Design-to-Production Process”.

Date: 26–27 February 2026
Location: HWZ University, Zurich & Grob AG, Nebikon
Registration: https://lnkd.in/eCGE7iCi

The contribution for Reishauer is titled: Bridging the Gap Between Gear Design and Manufacturing Reality

Successful transmission design is not driven solely by kinematics and stress calculations. It also depends on a clear understanding of what can actually be manufactured—reliably, repeatably, and at acceptable cost. In this two-part presentation, Walter will link gear design decisions with hard-finishing technology, covering:

  • Continuous generating gear grinding
  • Profile grinding
  • Hard-skiving

and how each process shapes flank geometry, surface integrity, noise behavior, and production robustness. The goal is simple: help designers make better decisions earlier, when changes are still cheap, and freedom is still high.

Eurotrans’ format—classroom sessions combined with live manufacturing at Grob—makes this one of the few events where design theory meets shop-floor reality.

We look forward to meeting transmission and gear engineers who want to build designs that not only look good in CAD, but also run quietly, carry a load, and can actually be produced with ease.
